  8.      WHAT IS NICE-N-EZ?
  9.  
  10.      NICE-N-EZ is a complete program development environment, inspired by
  11.      the environment of the Quick language series (QuickBasic, QuickC and
  12.      QuickPascal) developed by Microsoft.  NICE-N-EZ can be used to develop
  13.      programs in any programming language and you can provide your own
  14.      dynamic, help information from which you may copy and transfer text,
  15.      such as programming examples, to the clipboard for inclusion in your
  16.      own program.

  18.      NICE-N-EZ allows you to add as many as 10 different application
  19.      programs to its menu for execution when you make that menu selection.
  20.      You assign the menu name, prompt line and the command line to pass to
  21.      DOS.  The command line may contain variable data that is relative to
  22.      the currently active file and you may also specify the amount of DOS
  23.      memory required to run the program.

  25.      NICE-N-EZ is fully mouse aware, both for menu selections and cursor
  26.      control, while editing text.  NICE-N-EZ also recognizes a double-click
  27.      of the mouse when selecting files for loading, etc..

  29.      You may load as many as five (5) different files at once, each in a
  30.      different window that is sized, positioned and colored by the user.
  31.      In addition to the usual editing capabilities, NICE-N-EZ provides for
  32.      user maintained help text that is instantly available for the word
  33.      under the cursor (press the F1 key), powerful block operations, a
  34.      clipboard to store deleted or copied text, automatic indentation,
  35.      keystroke macros and miscellaneous programming aids.  Also, NICE-N-EZ
  36.      will function in 25, 43 and 50 line screen modes.

  38.      Drop-Down Menu choices may be made by mouse or keyboard.  Dialog boxes
  39.      are used when additional information is required.

  41.      Development of this program was prompted my own need.  I do some
  42.      programming in FORTRAN and I like the environment Microsoft provides
  43.      in their Quick language series, but they didn't offer QuickFortran.
  44.      So, I began developing my own environment that offered many of the
  45.      same features as QuickBasic.  Incidentally, NICE-N-EZ is written
  46.      mostly in QuickBasic with some assembler.  Microsoft has since
  47.      released Programmers Work Bench with a recent version of Fortran but I
  48.      think there is still a need for NICE-N-EZ with older versions of some
  49.      languages and with some of the Shareware languages.  I hope you agree.

  51.      Also, I believe NICE-N-EZ will fill the need of many people for a
  52.      simple, powerful and easy to use text editor.  Yes, another text
  53.      editor but, with state of the art appearance and functions.

  64.      SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  72.      HOW SHOULD I PROCEED?
  73.  
  74.      First you should make a backup of the distribution disk.  Then you
  75.      should read the documentation thoroughly to find out what is available
  76.      in NICE-N-EZ.
  77.  
  78.      However, if you are in a hurry to get started, just type EZ SAMPLE at
  79.      the DOS prompt.  You can learn about the program just by using the
  80.      Help features that are available.  Take a look at all the Drop-Down
  81.      menus.  You can activate the menu bar by pressing the Alt key.  Then
  82.      use the arrow keys to highlight your choice and press the Enter Key.
  83.      Alternately, you may make your selection by clicking the mouse on your
  84.      choice.  Also, you may press the Hot Key (the letter that is high-
  85.      lighted in each choice), after the menu bar has been activated, to
  86.      make your selection.

  88.      You can make your choice from the Drop-Down Menu in the same manner as
  89.      above.

  91.      Try EZHELP (instant help) by placing the cursor on the word "Rogers"
  92.      and press the F1 key.  Registered users may develop their own text
  93.      files to be compiled into EZHELP files.  These help files may include
  94.      specifications for your programming language with examples that may be
  95.      cut and pasted into your own programs.
